Six WRs Have Been a Model of NFL Consistency

With the NFL regular season stretching to 17 games and teams putting a premium on the passing game, wide receivers have an easier time reaching 1,000 yards in a season. However, the great ones can consistently achieve that feat despite minor injuries or varying strength of schedule.

As the NFL’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) pointed out, six wide receivers have registered 1,000-yard seasons from 2020 to 2023. Tyreek Hill has the most impressive output after finishing his second consecutive 1,700-yard season with the Miami Dolphins. Hill led the league with 1,799 passing yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023, earning him his second straight First-Team All-Pro selection.

Meanwhile, Justin Jefferson reached 1,000 yards last season despite playing in only ten games due to a hamstring injury. Signing the richest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history (four years, $140 million) should motivate him to play at peak form.

Stefon Diggs looks to sustain his on-field excellence with the Houston Texans. He had at least 1,183 receiving yards in his four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, and his streak stretches to six seasons, counting his last two with the Vikings.

Davante Adams remains with the Las Vegas Raiders despite the trade rumors attached to his name. He had 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He remains a potent threat in the passing game, whether with the Raiders or another team.

Mike Evans has been a franchise icon for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After signing a contract extension with the two-time Super Bowl champions, he will try to extend his streak of 1,000-yard seasons to 11. Achieving that feat puts him in solo second for most 1,000-yard seasons by a wide receiver, three behind Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.

Finally, Terry McLaurin might be the most unheralded out of the bunch. But after getting 919 yards and seven touchdowns in his rookie season, he never went below 1,000 yards anymore. Playing with eight starting quarterbacks in four seasons makes his feat more impressive.
