Daniel Carlson and Graham Gano have both benefitted from playing for kicker friendly offenses. But both the Raiders and the Giants have new coaching staffs, potentially resulting in them attempting fewer field goals.
In recent years, those offenses have tended to bog down around the goal line. In both of the last two seasons, in fact, they’ve had the most field goal likely offenses in the red zone. Since 2020, the Giants have kicked field goals on 37 percent of their red zone possession, and the Raiders are up at 39 percent.
Only one other team has scored field goals on over a third of its red zone possession in each of the last two years: the Texans.
At the other end of the spectrum, only one team has scored field goals on under 20 percent of its red zone possessions – the Browns.

I’m not counting on this being a sticky stat. Especially with the Giants, with Brian Daboll installing a new offense. With the Raiders, at least you can point to Josh McDaniels having been the offensive coordinator last year for one of only two kickers who scored 150-plus points (Nick Folk). I consider Daniel Carlson (pictured) to be a top-tier kicker.
